Your Culinary Needs Will Dictate your BBQ Grill Set

Whether you have an outdoor barbecue grill that runs on gas or just needs charcoal, you will need some type of BBQ grill set. This set is really a group of necessary grilling tools that you need in order to adequately perform your grilling duties. Each person has special grilling needs so there may be a number of BBQ grill sets to choose from.

Standard Options

The basic or standard BBQ grill set that most people have is five pieces and contains a long handled metal spatula for flipping, a long handled fork for piercing meat and turning over food, a long handled pair of tongs for gently turning food pieces over, a long handled knife and a long handles basting brush to coat food with marinade, barbecue sauce and more. You will likely find accessory sets that have much more than the standard five pieces listed above as well.

Some BBQ grill sets may also include pot holders to protect the hands from burning and even an apron to protect clothing from juices, basting sauces and more. Handy carrying and storage cases are also accompaniments to these accessories.

Some Fancier Extras

You might find a BBQ grill set that includes shish-ka-bob implements so that you can skewer and grill meat and vegetables. A wire basket that fits over the barbecue pit grill rack and fire may be an accompaniment to some set of tools and used to stir fry food over an open flame or even cook fish without it sticking to the actual grilling racks.

Sometimes the side of the spatula in your BBQ grill set is sharp enough to cut meat or vegetables and could either be a honed blade edge or a serrated edge for meat “sawing” capability. Your set may include a long handled wire grill brush for scrubbing down the grill after cooking to remove food debris.

A baster is a fine addition to a BBQ grill set as it is the perfect implement to distribute marinade or basting juices over meat to prevent drying out. A meat thermometer is a helpful tool in a set to help you discern when meat is ready and safe to eat by measuring its internal temperature. Bear claw tools which look like overgrown teeth but have handles for gripping it a great addition to any BBQ grill set as it can help you lift out heavier grilled items like large chickens, turkeys or large briskets.

There is no definitive rule that clearly spells out what a BBQ grill set should be so let your own culinary talents and needs decide for you.
