Protect your Investment with a BBQ Grill Cover

If have invested a nice chunk of change in a barbecue pit, why leave it out in the weather elements so that the paint can fade and rust can form? Get a BBQ grill cover and protect your investment so you will be grilling for years to come on that barbecue pit! If you do not have a covered patio or enough garage space to store your pit, you will need a BBQ grill cover that can withstand the different types of weather all year long such as snow, rain, wind, scorching sun and more.

What to Look For

Besides a BBQ grill set, a BBQ grill cover is the second most popular accessory people buy for their barbecue pits. You will want to choose a cover length that is slightly larger than your pit size for easy maneuverability and plenty of “play” in the material to avoid the inevitable tearing a tight fight could bring.

You will want your BBQ grill cover to be durable like a commercial grade vinyl that is at least 10-15 millimeters thick or more. The inside lining of this cover should be made of a polyester material and bound permanently to the vinyl via lamination as this will prevent the cracking and tearing from overexposure to a variety of weather elements. What is great about the polyester is that it will not absorb moisture and in fact repels it so your BBQ grill cover does not grow mold and mildew inside it against the barbecue pit.

Proper air flow under the BBQ grill cover can also prevent mildew and mold growth through the use of special mesh vents built in. If you have a standard size or model of barbecue pit, you can likely find some covers specially made for that line or brand. Try to choose a BBQ cover that is tailored somewhat to your barbecue pit.

Some covers may have an elastic gathering at the bottom to hold it in place but often the elastic will eventually wear out. Other BBQ grill covers may have strategically placed grommet holes around the bottom and bungee cords with hooked ends may be used to hold these covers in place. A drawstring option may be the best bet if you want a sleek fitting cover without any unsightly gapes or bulges.

A BBQ grill cover not only protects your barbecue pit from the elements of nature but also pesky critters like squirrels, birds and raccoons who may be attracted by the old scents of stuck-on food debris or juices that ran off cooked meat. The BBQ grill cover is an excellent way to protect your barbecue pit investment so that you can use it for years.
